Chugach State Park ATV Tour departs daily from South Anchorage.
A great Pre/Post excursion option for your Alaskan Cruise vacation.

Book Online Now!

There are no road signs marking the entrance to this part of the Chugach State Park. Most locals don’t even know about this wild scenic area. Adventure seekers do not need to travel many miles out of town searching for a true Alaskan backcountry riding experience. This awesome trail winds through the northern reaches of the Pacific Coastal Temperate Rainforest about ½ way between Anchorage and Girdwood. The Girdwood 3-hour tour includes a hike downhill to a spectacular waterfall where salmon come to spawn from mid-June through September. During this time there is a very good chance of seeing bears from the overlook fishing in the river below, and foraging in the high alpine meadows above.

Custom, exclusive and private departure times are available upon request. Please contact us for options.

Incredible guide-/ such fun on the paths. The hike to the waterfall was breathtakingly beautiful. One of the best experiences we’ve ever had!
Would definitely recommend and it’s our hope to get back here and do it again!

We will leave the trailhead and enter Alaska’s backcountry. Along the journey your guide will be on the lookout for bear viewing opportunities so you can take some amazing photos. We will ride to an overlook area where you can hike to a stunning waterfall. During spawning season you will see an incredible amount of salmon making their return trip “home”. Then we will continue down wooded trails before taking you through a large water hole to get you wet and muddy before we return you to the trailhead!

How to get to Chugach Base Camp

Trailhead Check-in is on Konikson Road, Anchorage Alaska. We have come a long way with our technology but for this location, GPS systems do not always work AND the trailhead does not have an address, the park service is working on it but we’re just not there yet. For the most accurate results using maps use the Essential One station in Bird Creek, from there you are only a few minutes away. We will send you detailed driving directions with your confirmed reservation.

UBER/LYFT – We work with a local UBER & LYFT driver. Call them ahead to arrange the pick-up time and location for both your hotel and the trailhead, once they arrive on your curb/trailhead, book the UBER/LYFT.

Rental Cars – We have been recommending Vito’s Car Sales and Rental off Gambell Street in Anchorage. In 2019 they were renting sedans for $70 a day.
