Joining Alaska ATV Adventures, you will be immersed in this lush rainforest. Immediately upon your arrival, you will find the air is clean and crisp. The sights and sounds of nature will entice your senses causing you to be eager and excited to begin your adventure.

Your Alaskan guide will meet you at the trailhead and provide each driver with ATV operation and safety training, which is part of the adventure at our expansive training site. Afterwards we depart on our ATV’s to explore the forest on the way to the river. We will have time at the river to sightsee around the area and take plenty of pictures of the raging waters, towering cottonwoods and overall natural beauty only a rain forest can provide.

Along the trail we will stop for a naturalist hike to discover the environment even further. We will keep an eye out for moose, bears, sheep and mountain goat on the trails and high alpine meadows, salmon in the creek and discuss the local flora and fauna to include edible berries and plants as well as traditional medicinal uses. In late summer, this forest turns into a fungus lovers paradise which we will also discuss as they begin to grow for the season. The complete adventure is 2 hours in duration with approximately 45 minutes on the ATV’s.

Trailhead Check-in is on Konikson Road, Anchorage Alaska

Alaska has come a long way with our technology but for this location…GPS systems do not always work AND the trailhead does not have an address, the park service is working on it, just not there yet. For the most accurate results using maps use the Essential One station in Bird Creek, from there you are only a few minutes away. We will send you detailed driving directions.

Don’t Want to Rent a Car?

UBER/LYFT is an option. We tested this out with some of our super flexible guests in 2018. These guests agreed to take an UBER using the Essential One Station as the drop off and then asking the driver to continue to the trailhead using the driving directions we provided. In all cases the driver agreed. For the return trip you will need to be prepared to walk back to the Essential One Station for the pick-up, you can request the car as soon as you get cell reception.
