Eklutna Lake guided tours in the heart of the Chugach Mountain Range but just an hour north of downtown Anchorage.

Tour Description

Whether you are a Alaska resident or visiting our great state, Alaska ATV Adventures can get you to places most only dream about. Our guide driven UTV (Side by Side) Tours of the Eklutna Lake backcountry will get you to a hidden gem not experienced by most that only go a short distance down the bike trail or paddle on the lake. Departure area is just 1 hour north of Anchorage and takes you into the heart of the Chugach Mountain Range.

 

DEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION Eklutna State Recreation Area
CLOTHING/GEAR Wear comfortable warm synthetic clothes dressing in layers (long sleeved shirt, long pants, fleece jacket, rain jacket, rain pants, gloves, wool/fleece hat, sunglasses) hiking boots or sneakers. Bring a small backpack, camera and binoculars. Bottled water is included with your trip however; please feel free to bring your own filled water bottle (less plastic waste).

More Information About The Area

Eklutna State Recreation Area boasts the largest lake in the Chugach State Park, Eklutna Lake. Serenity abounds as your driver/guide takes you many backcountry miles through spectacular scenery along pristine turquoise waters. Eklutna Lake is surrounded by the Chugach Mountains, home to moose, Dall sheep, sure-footed mountain goat and both black and grizzly bears. It is one of the area locals’ favorite places to take visiting friends and family for a true Alaskan experience.

How to get to Eklutna

From Anchorage: Take the Glenn Hwy. North to the Eklutna exit at mile 25.5.  Go right (East)to stop sign.  Take right and go 3/10 mile, take left on Eklutna Lake/Chugach State Park Road.  There may be a sign saying park is full.  Come anyway, we will find parking for you. Follow road 10 miles to the end.  Stop in parking lot on your right and go to small concession cabin across a small creek.

This is a custom tour and does not operate on a regular schedule. Advance reservations are REQUIRED. You will be provided with directions to the trailhead with your booking confirmation. There is NO cellular or internet service at the trailhead location. If there are no reserved bookings there will no guide on-site. Because our tours operate in various locations we meet at each trailhead rather than our office address. Please DO NOT show up at our office address. We will be out on the trail!

More Specifics on the Eklutna UTV Excursion

  • Ages: 4 -101
  • THERE IS NO CELL/INTERNET SERVICE AT LOCATION
  • Advance reservations are REQUIRED. There is NO cell/internet service at location. If there are no reserved bookings there will be no guide on-site.
  • The trip is driven by your Alaskan guide. These machines hold up to 5 passengers (6 with the guide). All guests are passengers.
  • There is a 3-person minimum to book one of these tours. Our UTVs hold up to 5 guests.
  • WE RIDE RAIN OR SHINE – Please bring appropriate outdoor gear (rain pants, raincoat, closed- toed footwear, stocking cap, gloves).
  • RESTROOMS: There are restrooms at the trailhead for use.
  • Add a Kayak or Bike rental upon return for an additional $40.00 per person for 2 hours through Lifetime Adventures.
  • Guests need to provide their own outdoor gear.
  • These tours have a limited number of departures each season. Contact us for up to date options.
